North Carolina BBQ Q&A

I have just found a bbq sauce recipe that my grandmother used. It is probably 20-30 years old. I need help with 1 ingredient. This is a vinegar based sauce and the recipe calls for 1/2 bottle or can of bbq seasoning. She may have added some bottled sauce but the can is what makes me think it may be something else. the recipe has all of the "normal" liquids and spices already in the recipe. Thanks for your help.

I have found a spice mix that was sold from this time period to present that is called barbeque seasoning. It is in a can like most rubs are in. I will never know if this is what my grandmother used but I will use her recipe for a starting point and go from there. I remember her bbq was excellent. Can't wait to try this.
