    First Competition

Well, we just entered in our first comp ever...We entered the Wirlygig Festival in Wilson, NC.  It will be a small one.  I don't think it is a KCBS or anything like that, but just a local deal w/ a chance to compete in the state cookoffs.  We have been wanting  to know how our bbq stacks up to others, so this is a great place to find out.  The location is in our back yard, entry fee was great and we are looking foward to it.

    Good luck corndog!!!

Competitions are a beast all their own.  I learned soooo much from my first competition. You can learn alot from the experienced competition cooks...many of them are happy to help and give advice. Take their advice and learn for the next one! I know they helped me.

When is the competition?  One of the articles I want to do will be called "Interview with the Judge". I'm going to see if one of the judges from here locally will share his thoughts on what they look for. I'll try and keep you posted.

Take lots of pictures and report back and let us know how you did...both good things you learned and bad.

That is great!  Go to win, but mostly go to have fun!

That is what we miss the most since we have opned the restaurant, competition, judging and all our friends.

It is a NC Pork Council contest, Nov 3 & 4, I believe.
