Kinda hidden off of Markham Avenue near the Duke University campus, the "sandwich shop" is best known for thier "State Championship" award winning barbeque sauce.  I stopped here a couple weeks ago and was told that they were "out of barbecue" and wouldn't get any more in for a couple weeks!?!?  Kinda strange, but that's what I was told.  Today when I stopped they stated that they had barbecue, so I got the platter with Cole-slaw, fried okra, and hushpuppies.  Below is my "review" and "rating":

    5/24/2010  Eastern/Central style sauce.
The barbecue was moist, but just a wee bit chewy, with really good flavor.  Good vinegar twang and heat with a smoky/sweet aftertaste kinda typical of "Central NC" style Q sauce.  The Q was chopped pretty fine and had the thin red sauce mixed in.
The Cole-slaw was chopped pretty fine with okay dressing, but a bit bitter.  The fried okra was typical of the frozen okra commonly found in grocery stores just heated up.
The hushpuppies were not good - too soft and kinda mealy.
Gracious amount of food for just $5.99 plus tax = 6.59

I gave this barbecue a solid 4.0 on my 1.0 (bad) to 5.0 (best) rating scale.
